The Monograph - Colour Issues

Written by Shawn Hughes on . Posted in Resources & Curriculum

During my time as a Lead Teacher at Cobourg West, teachers in our department constantly used The Monograph, which is filled with easily implemented learning activities that are current & relevant. These easily implemented activities allowed teachers with a variety of skills, qualifications, and backgrounds to help students understand the nature of the discipline and its relevance to our everyday lives.

These posters are a great learning resource that promote consistency within our department. Every teacher in our Department uses these posters and associated worksheets to help facilitate “Good Geography” within their classrooms.
OAGEE posters promote a strong sense of place that inspire stewardship and an appreciation for the students’ surrounding environment and resources.
What is where, why there, and why care?

Sikh Heritage Resources

Written by Shawn Hughes on . Posted in Resources & Curriculum

This is a terrific package of lessons that reflect the Sikh experience and support student learning in our Grade 9 Geography, CGR 4E Living in a Sustainable World, and CGW4U and 4C World Issues courses. These resources are available in English and French!

Each lesson draws upon the expertise of the Sikh Heritage Museum of Canada and the Ontario Association for Geographic and Environmental Education (OAGEE) in their endeavour to link the geographic Inquiry process, the geographic concepts of thinking, and geographic skills to Canadian Sikh history, culture and perspectives.
