The Topics
In both Grade 7 and Grade 8 geography, the expectations are divided into two thematic strands.
The topics covered in the two grades are as follows:
Grade 7
A. Physical Patterns in a Changing World
B. Natural Resources around the World: Use and Sustainability
Grade 8
A. Global Settlement: Patterns and Sustainability
B. Global Inequalities: Economic Development and Quality of Life
OAGEE is committed to supporting our colleagues teaching Geography at both the Grade 7 & 8 levels. Over the past few years we have made a commitment for example to have 7 & 8 appropriate workshops at our Conferences. Your success in grade 7 & 8 links to our success in the Gr. 9-12 geography classroom setting.
Although our primary focus has been Gr 9-12, we would like to support 7 & 8 teachers as best we can and are working towards strengthening connections with our 7 & 8 teachers.
We would also encourage you to visit and become members of OESSTA (Ontario Elementary Social Studies Teachers Association)  which is composed of teachers and educators from Public and Catholic School Boards, private institutions and Faculties of Education. The goal of this group is to support educators who teach Social Studies (grades 1-6) and Geography and History (grades 7&8)
