Conference Theme

Come explore the Canadian Shield and its rich history. This year’s conference is being held in Kenora, Ontario. A small northwestern city located on the shores of Lake of the Woods – one of Canada’s largest fresh water lakes. The area has a very rich history, geological wonders, and Aboriginal traditions and cultures that date back to the beginning of time.

Opening remarks/welcome by Clinton Bruetsch, principal of Beaver Brae Secondary School.  Guest speaker Dave Cornish, teacher from Beaver Brae Secondary School, will introduce classroom resource ‘Snap the Shield’

Stop for lunch at Borelli’s on Kenora’s harbourfront (cost not included in conference fee)

12:303:30 Tunnel  Island Guided Tour- Teika Newton, Community Research Coordinator, involved with the Common Ground Research Forum
3:30-5:00 Hotel stop 
5:00 Lake of the Woods Boat Tour (Weather permitting) 
7:00 Smith Camps fish dinner/drumming (cost not included in conference fee)
10:00 Bus pick up at Smith Camps to go back to Super 8 Motel

Flight Reservation from Toronto to Winnipeg with Air Canada:

Departing from Toronto to Winnipeg flight:

  • AC 267 on May 23rd  departing Toronto at 4:30pm arrive Winnipeg 6:00pm

Departing from Winnipeg to Toronto flight: 

  • AC 268 on May 25th  departing Winnipeg at 4:15pm arrive Toronto 7:32pm

Current airfare for a minimum of 10 passengers is $495.88 total (includes taxes). Seats will be held until March 29th, at which point a deposit of $50.00 per person will be due. Please enquire with the booking agency when the flights become non-refundable. On April22th, the final balance and names are due, and tickets will be issued to passengers at that time.
