For Indigenous people, identity has unique pressures within Canadian society of attempts to erase, change, or hide it. The media also offers a pervasive and often misleading concept of what an Indigenous person is. This discussion looks at the various identities an Indigenous person may carry with them and how it can affect them in non-Indigenous communities based on culture and history.
